Since their inception in 1999, designers Kevin Dresser and Kate Johnson remain fiercely independent as they operate solo as well as a pair without any staff. Recognized for a distinctive approach to fine art exhibition graphics, font design, icon design, and lettering, their award-winning work is intellectual, thoughtful, and often clever. Their 2002 icon designs for the Museum of Modern Art were influential in changing how the public views the classic restroom and wheelchair symbols leading to a spawn of new icon designs starting in New York State, then worldwide. In 2007, their Arrow Ring jewelry went viral in the early stages of social media leading to a popular big box store to appropriate the arrow’s design for their in-house brand of products. Once you see their iconic logo design for Brooklyn Bunny, your view of the Brooklyn Bridge will never be the same again. As of 2025, they remain steadfast in their personable approach of working with a wide-range of clients.
Together, they have created iconic, lasting identities for brands including Acuvue Contact Lenses, Band-Aid Brand Adhesive Bandages, Safavieh Home Furnishings, and Brooklyn Bunny. We’ve designed environmental graphics for leading cultural institutions, like the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian, the New York Public Library, San Antonio Museum of Art, and the American Folk Art Museum. Our wide-range of custom font projects include Architectural Digest magazine, Columbia University, Garry Trudeau’s Doonesbury comic strip, rap artist Eminem, Fader magazine, Google, InStyle magazine, and New York magazine. We’ve reinvented the look of universal symbols with our imaginative pictogram designs, which are now permanent fixtures at the Museum of Modern Art, the Empire State Building and Radio City Music Hall. And, our multifaceted lettering projects for the American Folk Art Museum, America’s Society, ESPN magazine, Little, Brown and Company, Rhode Island School of Design and more.
