San Antonio, Texas has a rich history of brewing beer that dates back to 1884 with the founding of the Lone Star Brewing Company. A century later, the San Antonio Museum of Art (SAMA) renovated and reclaimed the original headquarters of Lone Star Beer to house its vast art collection of antiquities, folk art, and contemporary works. Still Brewing Art is a celebration of the history of beer in San Antonio and SAMA’s connection to this past.
Originally, SAMA asked Dresser Johnson to design the logo and historical timeline graphic for the Still Brewing Art exhibition. The excitement began to grow once we completed the neon-sign logo and the San Antonio River-inspired timeline. SAMA requested that we continue our graphic theme for the entire exhibition. Loaded with historical trivia, vintage objects, and photographs, our graphics enliven this fascinating history of beer brewing and SAMA’s reclamation of the nationally-registered landmarked buildings.
