Crypto was a company that followed in the footsteps of the the Freitag brand by using recycled vinyl billboard advertisement banners to create messenger bags. Approached by founders Lexi Funk and Vahap Avsar to create a unique logo for their startup, we researched the visual methods of cryptology with the intention of creating a coded logo. However, we shifted our approach by designing a unique font based on the geometric sans serif lettering found on moving trucks and storefront signage throughout New York City. This bold, hand-lettered logo would hold its branding strength when set as a label on the graphically busy advertisement remnants used in the Crypto bags.

Within a year of operating, Funk and Avsar wanted to branch out into the streetwear market with a new company called Brooklyn Industries. Once we designed the now iconic Brooklyn Industries water tower logo along with the first run of apparel including t-shirt graphics, sweatshirts, backpacks, and wallets, Crypto dissolved in order to focus on their more popular streetwear venture.
