Now a popular abbreviation for Brooklyn, “BKLYN” was introduced in 2004 on highway signage by then mayor Marty Markowitz. Less than a year later, Brooklyn Bunny launched and was the first brand on the internet to co-opt the abbreviation using the iconic bunny-eared Brooklyn Bridge logotype.
